Animal Health Laboratory Staff Training

Opening of first lot of Animal Health Laboratory Staff training by Dean, Prof. Demesi Mande, on 17th May 2021. The training, facilitated by ILRI, is on bacterial isolation and identification, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing. It will be done in two lots of 18 participants each (17th – 21st May 2021 and 24th – 28th May 2021).

KESCAVA HIP DYSPLASIA SCORE SCHEME

The Kenya Small and Companion Animal Veterinary Association (KESCAVA) has several partnerships with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine one of them includes its Hip Dysplasia committee. The committees aim is to improve breed standards by evaluating breeding dogs for hip dysplasia. the University of Nairobi Teaching and referral hospital facilitates the HD scheme through its state-of-the-art digital radiography unit and providing meeting space for the committee.

Thika T.T.I Students Undertaken Histopathology Techniques

Students from Thika T.T.I were undertaken Practical Demonstrations on Histopathological Techniques in the Department of Vet. Pathology, Microbiology and Parasitology. The Aim of the Demonstrations was to expose the students on Histopathological Techniques applied strating from PostMortem, Embedding, Tissue Processing, Microtomy and Staining.The students were also taken into other sections of the department which included Parasitology Lab. Bacteriology Lab, Virology Lab, Media Room and Sterilization Room.

The fifth-year Veterinary students celebrated their 2019 dinner at the Department of Clinical Studies. Such special gatherings are present an invaluable opportunity for students to meet and network with their lecturers and alumni.
