Overview
The course shall run over a minimum period of four (4) semesters and a maximum of twelve (12) semesters of 15 weeks each.
Structure
The course shall run over a minimum period of four (4) semesters and a maximum of twelve (12) semesters of 15 weeks each.
- The course shall be by coursework and project. The project shall be undertaken after completion of coursework
- Coursework shall comprise lectures, practicals, demonstrations and seminars, while the project shall involve individual research in specified areas and writing up of project report.
- For coursework, students shall be required to take a minimum of ten (10) course units:- seven (7) compulsory and three (3) elective.
- The minimum number of course units taken in a semester shall be 3 and the maximum 6
- The taught course units constitute part one (1) of the programme while the research project constitutes part two (II)
- A course unit shall be defined as a total of sixty (60) contact hours of lectures, practicals or demonstrations and seminars, separately taken or in a combination.
Admission Requirements
- The common regulations for the Master's degrees in all faculties of the University of Nairobi shall apply.
- Those eligible for admission into this course shall be:-
- holders of the following non-classified degree awards of the University of Nairobi or other University recognised by the Senate of the University of Nairobi:-
- Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine.
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.
- Any other non-classified degree/qualification equivalent to any of the above
Holders of the following classified degrees, at upper second class honours, of the University of Nairobi, or equivalent qualification from a University recognised by the Senate of the University of Nairobi:-
- BSc. in Animal Science, where Clinical Pathology was taken and passed
- Any other classified degree/qualification equivalent to (a) above
Holders of a lower second class honours degree in areas specified in 4 above and either a postgraduate diploma in relevant area OR at least 3 years research/work experience. Holders of a pass degree in areas specified in 4 above and a postgraduate diploma in the relevant areas.
